South Fortress Wall and Tower
The South Fortress Wall is one of the most impressive historical landmarks in Sozopol and a must-visit for every traveler. It is part of the fortification system of ancient Apollonia Pontica, dating back to the 5th–6th centuries, and over the years it was expanded and used during the medieval period as well.
Today, the restored section offers a unique combination of history and breathtaking panoramic views of the Black Sea. Walking along the wall reveals the rocky coastline, small bays, and the endless horizon, making it one of the city’s most popular spots for photography. The different construction layers from various historical periods are clearly visible, turning the site into a living history lesson.
We recommend the South Fortress Wall to all guests who enjoy historical walks, sea views, and authentic atmosphere, especially at sunset.
